Strategic Support Unit

 SSU

Functions: The Strategic Support Unit (SSU) will deliver results in the following areas:

• National Education Action Plans (NEAP) and annual NEAP implementation plans are developed and approved by MEHRD management.
• The implementation of the NEAP is monitored, evaluated and progress reports are provided to MEHRD managers with recommendations for priority actions.
• MEHRD’s research, evaluation and investigation priority needs are identified and internal or external personnel are engaged to undertake the assignment based on terms of reference.
• MEHRD’s policy review and development needs are identified and internal or external personnel are engaged to undertake the assignment based on terms of reference.
• Projects and programmes development needs are identified and personnel are engaged to undertake the design based on terms of reference.
• Special Projects based on an approved design are established by the SSU as directed by MEHRD management and teams organised to undertake the duty.
• Develop systems to ensure effective coordination and two-way communication with key stakeholders, including development partners.
• Provide administrative services to the Minister and National Education Board that assists them to organise their work and make good decisions
• Provide services to the MEHRD Senior Management Team, Coordination Team, Heads of Departments, Technical Working Groups and Committees that assists them to organise their work       and make good decisions.
• Organise key events such as Annual Joint Reviews as directed by MEHRD management in a timely and efficient manner.
• Support MEHRD management to a identify Technical assistance needs, timing for this assistance and to develop terms of reference for internal and external technical assistance based on an understanding of how this will assist achievement of NEAP objectives.
• Evaluate proposals from external organisations offering support to MEHRD and make recommendations to MEHRD management on how such proposals could contribute to achievement of MEHRD priorities.
